Headquarters. Every September
starting the Tuesday after the Labour Day weekend, hundreds of
master sculptors, from around the world gather on the beach of
Harrison lagoon. They come to create world class professional
sand sculptures and earn bragging rights and some pretty decent

The history of
Sand
Sculpting is not well documented. There
are vague references here and there of sand sculptures throughout
history but clear references only occur at the turn of the 20th
century. Atlantic City's famous boardwalk was the prefect
place for artists to build a Sandcastle in hope of tips and
donations and is one of the places where real sand sculpting seems
to have started.
Modern day professional sand sculpture seems to have started in the
70's in the beach capital of the world, California.
Sand
Sculptors International a group that still exists today played a
major role in popularizing this art from. Today there a sand
sculpting events around the world with 100's of Master sand
sculptors competing. The ultimate competition and only world
championships happens every fall in Harrison Hot Springs.
