Go fly a kite….
What better place to go fly your kite than on the sandy beaches of
Harrison Lake. Our thermal afternoon winds (12 to 20 knots) make
this a fun activity any day of the week. Kite flying is one of the easiest hobbies to learn. With just a little practice
and a slight breeze, anyone can launch a homemade or bought kite with ease.
Kites made their appearance over three thousand years ago in China. Bamboo was
used for the frame, and silk for the sail and bridle. It had a mythical and
religious dimension. From China the kite was reproduced throughout Asia,
then later in Europe, and now, in the modern age, in America, Australia and
other countries.
